seeing red

Last time I discussed hair I was considering whether or not to rock the ombre look. Now that the lazy, sunkissed days of summer are taking a long retreat {against my wishes, I might add} I am looking at colors for the fall. Style isn't a question- I'm keeping my straight across bangs and attempting to grow out this fine mass of wavy locks. This season, I'm thinking red is what I'm going for. I even pinned a whole board of luxurious red locks. I think I've narrowed it down to a few choices and I need your help! Which one is your favorite? Also, I'm debating whether or not to box color. Shhhh! Don't tell ma coiffeuse extraordinaire Michelle {aka the blow dryer-wielding angel on my shoulder} she'll never allow box color. So, what do you think

P.S. Netflix Instant may be totally el stupido when it comes to movies, but they are hitting every mark just right with their TV show choices. How much am I loving Glee?!? More than words. Emma Pillsbury, give me your wardrobe!

to ombre or not to ombre

When I would color my hair blonde, I would go absolutely crazy when it reached the regrowth phase. Dark roots and bleached ends always grossed me out. But then it became popular with the ombre look and I think it's slowly starting to grow on me. I still can't wrap my head around extremely dark roots & bangs. I don't think I want to go back to blonde either. But if I can ever get my hair to grow out, I am looking to these ladies for inspiration {particularly Rachel Bilson. I love her, don't you?}.

How about some ombre nails, too? Why the heck not?

chasing waterfalls

If you've ever seen my pinterest account, it's no surprise to you that I am a lover of all things braid {and glitter, but I digress}. One elusive braid has had my eye for quite some time and I like to call it the "thingy jigger braidy doo." Turns out it has a less fancy and much more technical name. The waterfall braid. Doh.

luuux (I guess...I found it on google)

I have big plans {sometimes delusions} for when I have long hair & I can attempt this little beauty. Oh the flowers I will add.

Where do you go for other hair information & romance?

P.S. I've been thinking of changing things up just a little and switching this blog over to a new name. I need opinions. Wise or silly? Should I do it? I've already opened up the account {gotta get the name I want, you know} and I just don't know if I should transfer this blog & its entries over there or start fresh. What say you? Yes? No? Peut-etre?

new career?

I had a moment. It was a brief moment, but a moment nevertheless. What was this moment you ask? It was the moment I decided that I'm not just growing out my hair but also my bangs. This lasted about 2 weeks and then my bangs started getting all curly, disheveled and downright frightening.

Normally I go to the one & only Michelle {a.k.a Michelleeeee or My-Chelly if you're pretty much sisters} for my haircuts, but the madness was just too much to bear. After perusing my old issues of Bust, I came across an article on a DIY bang trim. I grabbed my sharpest scissors, put a towel down over the sink and went to work. The last time I trimmed my own bangs was in 7th grade so you can probably imagine how frightened I was about how they would turn out.

They aren't so bad, right? Have I found a new career trimming bangs? Perhaps... perhaps.

Just Whipping My Hair Back & Forth

Folks, let's talk hair, shall we?
Like most girls, I am always looking to get my hair cut or styled in a new way. I can’t help it. It’s so boring waiting for it to grow out and when it finally does, all I want is to cut it into a fabulous bob. My amazing hairstylist Michelle puts up with me bringing in pictures of redheads, girls with chocolate hair, caramel & platinum blondes, and we can’t forget Jessica Alba. For some reason, my hairstyle choices always go back to Jessica Alba… Most of these girls have thick, shiny, pin-straight hair. So, what’s the problem, Patti? Oh that’s simple. I was blessed {::cough cough:: yeah right} with fine, naturally wavy locks. Not in the good way where I wake up looking like Giselle either. No way. Usually I wake up looking more like a crazed lion.

<-- sexy

After lots of experience, I’ve determined the longest my hair can get without me hating it or it looking like a tangled mess is shoulder-length. I’m fine with this. I’ve accepted it. I’ve also decided blonde is too much upkeep. The most upkeep I want to deal with is getting regular trims & not wearing a ponytail.
This doesn’t stop me from pining away at luxurious curls and pixie cuts. Oh yeah, did I mention I’m super into pixie cuts? I could NEVER do it, but I like admiring the girls who rock it with style.
Jessica Stroup's hair makes me want to get out my Hello Kitty scissors and get started.
Since I know the limits of my hair, I tread cautiously. Careful not to do anything too crazy, while still appeasing my ever-changing mind. That said, I think I'm going to attempt blunt bangs again. I was on the fence until I saw this picture of Sarah Hyland from the Golden Globes.

Seriously, I die. My only concern is how it will look with my stacked bob. I don't want to look like an old woman, but looking like a 13-year-old isn't really an option either...

In case you're wondering, here are examples of me with bangs:
