Dress Fit for a Royal

I inadvertently stayed up to watch the beginning of the royal wedding, but somehow managed to miss the ceremony itself. That didn't stop me from cooing when I saw the hats & Kate Middleton's dress. Sarah Burton for McQueen. Dreamy.

I love that Pippa Middleton was also wearing white. It's one of my favorite wedding fashion ideas. In fact, it goes hand in hand with my admiration for whimsical, fairy-tale weddings. Ugh. Now all I want to do is wear a glorious hat around town. Will this desire ever subside?

Zenni-one Can Have Some

I have misplaced my favorite pair of glasses somewhere. They're probably at school or in one of my teaching bags. I'm guessing that since I can't find the eyeglass case for them that wherever they are, they're safe... Whatever. If they don't want to help me see then I can't help that.
What I can do {and did do} is get some new glasses. In comes Zenni Optical. My new favorite place to buy glasses on the low. If I didn't misplace or sit on my glasses, I'd buy myself a more expensive pair. Lenscrafters would probably like it if I actually bought the designer glasses I try on regularly. Let's face it, I'd tire of them quickly. I need variety. Until I become an adult and learn to take care of the things that "improve" my vision, Zenni is perfect.
So I got not one, but FOUR new pairs of glasses for under $100. In fact, if you really want to know I'll tell you that with shipping, all 4 glasses came to $46.70 and would have been a little less if I had decided to get the fourth pair at the same time as the other three. But, noooooooo. I realized after pressing the order confirmation button that what I REALLY needed were some tortoise-shell glasses.

The shipping isn't exactly the fastest, but I've been satisfied with the other two pairs I bought from them, so I'll keep going back as long as they keep having glasses that look good on me. Should I post pics when they come in? Perhaps so. Perhaps so.

It's a cold, dreary, rainy day here in NH. The perfect day for doing nothing. I like this :).

The Cupcake

On April 18th, my beautiful little niece Kyleigh turned 3 years old. Before she was born, I called her the little cupcake. I knew she was going to be something special. I didn't get to see her on her special day and she was {and still is} sick with the flu. :( I can't wait to present her with the gifts I got her, she's going to love Love LOVE them.

This little Osh Kosh number from Target and a two-toned bubble dress which has a cuteness that can't be captured by a picture.
This barbie bike is super amazing. There are cupcakes images all over the seat. There's a basket AND a bell, and the icing on the cake is that it has a little bike for a Barbie attached to it. Attached, I tell you! If this doesn't make you wish you could fit on a 12-inch bike, I don't know what will.
Without further ado, I present to you: The Birthday Girl.

In other news:

Look what I got! The world's most amazingly ridiculous shower cap.

Another Year Down

Bike: awesome. Basket: awesome. $5 book sale at the library: awesome. Pink shoes: awesome. Sexy white socks: most awesome.

Despite the scare of my life, my taxes are filed & I can officially say I am getting back a meager amount.
Meh. On the other hand, that little, "Your taxes have been filed for another year" message from TurboTax brought great joy to my life and a weight off my shoulders. They had better be done, according to my friendlings I missed free cone day at Ben & Jerry. ::mumble grumble::

The scare came when I thought I had lost one of my W-2 forms. I wouldn't get a new one sent to me in a decent time frame under normal circumstances, let alone 5 days before taxes are due. I knew I had put it somewhere safe though. After all, I may be known to store my social security card in my napkin holder on occasion, but I am less scatterbrained about my other important documents.

Last week, my friends welcomed their handsome little gent into the world and last weekend my adorable little nieces spent the night. We went bike riding, enjoyed the IMMENSELY wonderful warming temperatures outside, made homemade donuts {with applesauce instead of yogurt} and ate breakfast out on the deck. Did I mention that we watched Anastasia 3 or 4 times also? It might be an exaggeration, but who knows. My soon-to-be-3-year-old niece is obsessed with that movie.

I also discovered a most glorious new game. Glorious is code for: Game that doesn't take a long time to play and I can crush my opponents at least 1/2 the time. Ubongo Duel, I am giving you my game-loving heart... for the time being. Scrabble Apple may nab your place in the spotlight at some point.

In other news, now that the weather is finally warming up, I can take some pictures and get this blog really rolling.

April Can't Fool Me

Today is April 1st & I was anxiously awaiting some pranks being pulled on me by my students. Instead, I'm snowed in. This might be the cruelest joke ever played!
